Getting started with BabelPage

BabelPage turns scanned Japanese book pages into fully-translated English PDFs that keep the original layout — paragraphs, tables, diagrams, captions, and page numbers land where they should.

First steps

1. Sign up with your email and set a password. You'll get a

verification email; the app works while you're unverified but a banner will remind you to confirm.

1. Create a project. From the Dashboard, tap New project and

pick a title, an intent (Translate or Scan-only), and the source and target languages. Most users leave source as auto and target as English.

1. Add your first pages. Open the project and tap New scan. On

the phone you'll get the native document scanner; on web you can upload photos or PDFs.

1. Review the translations once they've processed (page detail →

Translated tab). Export the whole book from the project header when you're happy.

Intents

• Translate — the full pipeline. Every page runs OCR → translation

→ rendered PDF → quality review.

• Scan-only — capture and store only, no translation. Great for

digitizing family documents, receipts, records. Pages are immediately "complete" on upload; no per-page credit is spent.

You can flip a project's intent later in Project Settings, but pages already uploaded under one intent don't retroactively re-process.
