Scanning IDs and business cards (two-up mode)
Two physical sides on one page — useful for driving licenses, national ID cards, business cards, passport bio pages. Available both at scan time and after upload.
Option A — at scan time
Before tapping Start scan in the New scan screen, pick a mode:
- Side-by-side — pairs adjacent captures left/right. Best for
portrait-oriented cards where you want front and back next to each other like a two-page spread.
- Top / bottom — stacks adjacent captures. Best for landscape
cards or wide receipts.
Scan the front, then the back. The app composites the pair server-side and adds ONE page to the project. Scan 6 pages in 2-up mode → get 3 combined pages. Odd count → the last one goes as a single page.
Option B — after upload
Already scanned front and back as separate pages? Enter selection mode on the project detail screen and tap two thumbnails. A Combine button appears. Tap it, pick a layout, confirm. The server merges the two source images into one composite, replaces them in the project (at the lower page's slot), and closes the gap so page numbers stay contiguous.
Selection order matters. The first tap becomes the LEFT (or TOP) side of the composite. Selection order = layout order.
Notes
- Combine handles 2–6 pages at once. Beyond 6 the composite gets too
crowded to read.
- Auto-layout picks side-by-side for portrait pairs, top-bottom for
landscape pairs, and defaults to side-by-side for mixed.
- Deleting the source pages after combine is intentional — the
composite carries all of the source. Don't select if you want to keep them separately.
